Father's Day Video: A Life in Photos, From Boy to Dad
Dads are hard to buy for, and a video of his life in photos is a gift that works for almost every one of them. A growing up video turns old photographs into one smooth film, from a boy to the man he is now.
Ways to give it
- From the kids, with each one adding a favourite photo.
- On the day, played at lunch or sent in the morning.
- For a dad or grandad, told through the photos he kept in the loft.
Choosing the photos
Look for a photo from each stage: as a baby, a child, a teenager, a young man, on his wedding day, with his own children, and today. Ask relatives if you cannot find early ones. A printed photo can be photographed in daylight, and a slightly worn print still works if the face can be read.
Between 2 and 24 photos work. Each pair becomes a transition of about 5 seconds. 5 photos (Starter plan, $4.90) gives a short video; 12 photos tells more of the story. If you are not sure which photos to use, read how to choose photos for a growing up video.
Order matters
Put the photos from youngest to oldest. The video goes from the first photo to the last, so the order you set is the order he sees.
Make it
- Gather 2 to 24 photos of the person.
- Put them in order from youngest to oldest.
- Choose a plan and pay once. No subscription and no watermark.
- Download the MP4 and share it anywhere.
If one transition does not look right you can redo just that one (the Starter plan includes 2 redos, larger plans 3 to 5). Photos and videos are deleted automatically after 30 days, so download and keep your MP4.
Create your video before Father's Day, or look at the plans first.
