Sweet 16 Video: From Baby Photos to Sixteen

1 min read

A Sweet 16 is a big birthday, and a video from baby to sixteen is a classic way to open the party. A growing up video makes it easy: one photo per stage, in order, and the video does the rest.

Where to play it

  • At the party, while guests arrive or before the toast.
  • As a gift from parents the morning of the birthday.
  • On social media, as a short post for the day.

Choosing the photos

Aim for one photo per two or three years: newborn, toddler, starting school, around ten, thirteen, and now. Look through phone galleries and family albums, and ask grandparents for older photos. Choose photos where the face is clear and not covered by sunglasses or a mask. JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC files all work.

Between 2 and 24 photos are possible. Each pair becomes a transition of about 5 seconds. 8 photos (about 35 seconds) is a good fit for sixteen years; 5 photos (Starter plan, $4.90) suits a shorter video. If you are not sure which photos to use, read how to choose photos for a growing up video.

A group gift

Ask friends and relatives to each send one photo from a different year. One person puts them in order and makes the video, so everyone is part of it.

Make it

  1. Gather 2 to 24 photos of the person.
  2. Put them in order from youngest to oldest.
  3. Choose a plan and pay once. No subscription and no watermark.
  4. Download the MP4 and share it anywhere.

If one transition does not look right you can redo just that one (the Starter plan includes 2 redos, larger plans 3 to 5). Photos and videos are deleted automatically after 30 days, so download and keep your MP4.

Create your video for the party, or look at the plans first.
